Notable: Somerset Hills is a study in variety and considered by many to be A.W. Tillinghast’s most authentic surviving design. With green complexes that rival any club’s, Somerset Hills offers the imagination full rein.

Somerset Hills is a member of the Quadrangular (along with Hoffman Cup clubs Morris County GC and Rumson CC), widely considered the oldest continual interclub competition in North America. SHCC held its Centennial celebration invitational in 2017, hosting many of the top amateurs (and Hoffman Cuppers) in the region. This has turned into an annual event.

Besides hosting the 2021 Hoffman Cup Finals, Somerset Hills has hosted several important regional events, including:

  • NJSGA Amateur, 1964
  • USGA Curtis Cup, 1980
  • MGA Amateur, 1982, 2003
  • NJSGA Senior Open, 1996
  • NJSGA Mid-Amateur, 2005, 2022
  • MGA Ike, 2011
