In 2012, the HCM and The First Tee of Raritan Valley formed a partnership designed to create awareness among the competitors in the HCM of the great work being performed by The First Tee. About one month before the 2012 competition, each HCM team captain was asked to poll his team to see if they would be interested in providing financial and / or volunteer support to The First Tee of Raritan Valley.

Due to the leadership of the HCM captains, the Initiative was a resounding success. Almost all the teams in the HCM participated by forwarding donations totaling $8275, representing support from an estimated 175 competitors.

Canoe Brook Country Club (Captain Jeffery Parker) and Essex County Country Club (Captain Dave Coates) lead the way among all HCM teams in financial support.

Following Through.  The First Tee – Raritan Valley President Bruce Smallwood (left) receives the Hoffman Cup overall donation on behalf of all the teams from Canoe Brook Captain Jeffrey Parker (middle) and Essex County Captain Dave Coates.  Thank you, gentlemen!

By any measure, direct awareness and support for The First Tee was heightened among a group of golfers singularly well-suited to give back to the next generation of golfers.

With this solid foundation and a few tweaks based on suggestions from our captains, we’re expecting even greater things in 2013!
